Jai Alai ... The Fastest Sport in the World!
I attended King's Court Jai Alai this Sunday, Fathers' Day. After the last game (the eighth) was played, I was able to speak to the players' manager, Benny Bueno, in the players' cage, much to my surprise and delight. Benny said the ball which was used in that performance was a batting cage ball, with the dimples sanded off. Indeed, the ball which Benny handed to me for examination had only a few faint dimples still on it. Several types of other balls were in the players' cage, not for use in that performance, but probably for testing. The ball used in that performance was yellow, which made it easy to see during play. This is, though, a rubber ball, and as has been mentioned by other posters, played like it. Benny was gracious and cordial to all who wanted to speak with him after the 8th game. More about King's Court in later posts.
