Iñaki Osa Goikoetxea, outside the Jai Alai World Tour

Would greatly appreciate anyone that is able to translate Goiko's message in the video link below.

Zumaia's 11-time Individual Champion will not be able to defend his title this summer because he has not reached an agreement with the organization about advertising his helmet.

He says he was told if he wanted to play in the tournament, he had to do it with a white helmet without any logos of sponsors.  He says that apparently they didn't want him to play and they brought in other players. Says he's sad that he prepared all summer and now he can't play.

Thank you Ernesto!

Unless there is something I am missing, this is a BAD decision to not allow sponsors on the helmets.  Sponsors just might possibly be the saving grace of the sport.  Allowing companies with DEEP pockets to be a part of the sport is exactly what Jai Alai needs.  Having every pelotari covered with sponsors would be ideal!

Look at Nascar, Fishing, etc ... the equipment, the people ... COVERED IN SPONSORS!

Look at a company very near to my heart ... Oracle Team USA (yacht racing).  Winners of the 33rd and 34th America's Cup in San Francisco. Founded by Larry Ellison, the team first won the America's Cup in 2010.  BTW, check out their helmets:

Again, maybe there is more to the story.  On the surface it appears that the decision makers(s) of the Jai Alai World Tour dug in their heels without taking into consideration the exposure sponsors bring to the sport.

What about having representatives from Red Bull at the World Tour to capture Goiko in action to spread in their publications, videos, commercials, etc.

Look at the walls in the Basque country frontons (compared to the US) ... covered in sponsors!

This one is starting to make my blood boil.  I'll try and remain calm until I try and find out a little more.

perhaps this is why is a dying sport. the idiots running it have no clue. How do you tell Tiger Woods or a star of that magnitude that they can't compete because of w/e reason, you find a way t omake it happen. perhaps they got tired of him winning every single event.

Who wins in this? No one does.
Imagine these partidos at Dania.
Would the people come?
The same format we have been watching only here in the USA.
Lots of sponsors lots of advertising.
Many Benny could make it happen?
